As has been confirmed by two different sources, the following is a check, made payable to Newton Co. from Nelson Heights Community Services Inc, in an amount of $450.
This check was written to cover the recreation fees for three children, at least two of which, purportedly, are blood-kin to both Anthony Henderson, Covington Council member & current Nelson Heights CEO, as well as his father — Newton BOC 4 rep & former Nelson Heights CEO, JC Henderson.
As one source succinctly put it:
At the least, this appears to be personal use of monies donated to a non-profit for the benefit of the citizens of Nelson Heights. At worst, it is personal use (theft) of county funds received by the nonprofit. I am not familiar with how much if any private donations Nelson Heights Community Services, Inc receives but they likely are intermingled with county funds. Check the law but I believe theft of government funds of any amount by a government official is a felony.
And yes, anytime it’s government property, it’s always a felony no matter the dollar amount.
As previously mentioned, for many years JC Henderson was the CEO of Nelson Heights & was actually found to have been malfeasant in that role in the 2016 Audit of Newton Co.
Starting in 2018, w/ an amended corporate filing, JC has officially been removed as an officer or the registered agent, and now everything is in Anthony’s name w/ the exception of Sandy Henderson as CFO (imagine that was probably legal advice from a particular attorney at law who may or may not have an office on College Ave).
I’ve written multiple pieces about the Hendersons & Nelson Heights over the years over at TPC. There’s always been issues & problems. This all really needs to be addressed & corrected.
Well, I know of one easy way to that & that is if JC were to get his a$$ bounced out of office on Tuesday.
