Greetings, Dear Readers, and I hope it’s fine as wine out there.
In what I’m planning on becoming maybe a once every other week tradition, here is a sampling of recent content at some of the Substacks that I follow.
Here’s a terrific piece from Glen Greenwald talking about the bizarro, through-the-looking-glass upside down we all find ourselves vis-a-vis the Democrats now being the party of the neocons (not that surprising considering how congressional dems were salivating over war criminal Dick Cheney a couple weeks ago…)
The Neocons' Primary War Tactic: Branding Opponents of U.S. Intervention as Traitors
—By rehabilitating neocons and elevating them as thought leaders, liberals live in their framework. Thus are opponents of U.S. involvement in Ukraine deemed treasonous—
”As punishment for arguing against the neocons’ latest plan to involve the U.S. in a new war, Carlson has been widely vilified as a Kremlin asset or, at best, a mouthpiece. “You're going to hear a lot of lying about Putin's War from Putin apologists on the Carlson right and the Greenwald left,” warned Frum, adding: “Putin apologists in US, UK, Germany, etc. should not be allowed to get away with hanging Putin's War on any other neck.” A former Obama official and now-Democratic Congressman from New Jersey who is often a voice for war — Tom Malinowski (who, ironically, was a top official of Human Rights Watch before running for office) — claimed on Monday that his office is being inundated with calls demanding that he and the U.S. "side with Russia," and Malinowski asserts that Carlson is somehow to blame for this. That insinuation of treason predictably led to an immediate appearance on CNN, where Malinowski's claims were converted into on-screen graphics from CNN suggesting that the Fox host is not on the side of America but its enemies…”

Matt Taibbi, like Greenwald, a true progressive liberal who NOT part of the tRuMpBaD/DC-Dems-Good/let’s-completely-destroy-our-legacy-and-credibility crew, continues to do what he’s always done — speak the REAL truth while doing so in a very efficient & convincing manner (for those who don’t have their heads up their posteriors, that is).
The Folly of Pandemic Censorship
— As the latest anti-Substack campaign shows, more and more people are forgetting why free speech works —
“Censors have a fantasy that if they get rid of all the Berensons and Mercolas and Malones, and rein in people like Joe Rogan, that all the holdouts will suddenly rush to get vaccinated. The opposite is true. If you wipe out critics, people will immediately default to higher levels of suspicion. They will now be sure there’s something wrong with the vaccine. If you want to convince audiences, you have to allow everyone to talk, even the ones you disagree with. You have to make a better case. The Substack people, thank God, still get this, but the censor’s disease of thinking there are shortcuts to trust is spreading.”

And to prove that I just don’t follow good progressive liberals, here’s one from conservative firebrand & one of my faves — the one & only (and very lovely) Ms Emerald Robinson. To call this piece eviscerating & decimating would almost describe the earth she just scorched…
Dear Never Trumpers: The Cruise Is Over
— How a generation of "conservative" intellectuals finally turned into Democrats —
”The good news is: the war is finally over. We won, and they lost. There’s no need to lob more verbal grenades into their cave. (As Winston Churchill once said: "Why make the rubble bounce?") The Biden Regime has been such a disaster for America in one short year that it has made the Trump Administration look like Camelot. The American people want Trump back in the White House today, but will settle for 2024. As for the Never Trumpers, they insisted that Trump was incompetent and unstable, and that Biden was competent and unifying—and so they have discredited themselves for all time.
You can almost feel the cruise-ship conservative intellectuals drowning in a sea of failed predictions. It doesn’t matter if they sink or swim now—they’re in the middle of the North Atlantic and it’s too many miles to land in either direction.
The cruise is over.”
I’d recommend subscribing to all three of these gifted writers if you haven’t already.
Until Next Time,
