neither fish nor fowl
(idiomatic) something or someone which is not easily categorized; something or someone that does not rightly belong or fit well in a given group or situation.
My previous piece from a few days ago, my first one since my extended summer break, definitely drew some attention. For the most part, the feedback was good though, per usual, I had at least a few folks who took issue w/ it.
First off, I always appreciate the feedback, no matter positive or negative.
But mainly I wanted to pass along the key essence, in my opinion, of my beliefs & positions regarding…basically everything, but particularly the current state of affairs.
You see, I am neither fish nor fowl. And I’m not alone in the Neither Fish Nor Fowl crew (hereby stylized as the NFNF). Our numbers are large & growing, and we come from all walks of life, beliefs, politics, etc.
To really get to the heart & soul of the current situation, one has to be willing to leave their comfort zone. Because, in my analysis, making sense of the last several years (the last 2 & 1/2 in particular) requires a certain perspective that transcends partisan politics (L vs R), or even political philosophy (conservative vs liberal/progressive vs libertarian vs independent vs whatever).
I feel as if you can really boil it down to two things for membership in the NFNF Club:
1. A real, keen & passionate appreciation for freedom, individual rights & civil liberties
2. An inherent & deep mistrust in most of our national entities & institutions w/ a particular emphasis on the federal government, the mainstream legacy media, big tech, big business (large corporations in general), big pharma (basically big everything), the military industrial complex, etc, et al
The NFNF People run the gambit & as a rule we’re pretty damn smart & have pretty much been right on everything the last several years.
On the left, we have folks like Tulsi Gabbard, Glenn Greenwald, Matt Taibbi, Bill Maher, Joe Rogan & many others.
On the right, we have Rand Paul, Thomas Massie, Emerald Robinson, Liz Wheeler & many, many others.
Then we have a multitude of folks who are either independent or who haven’t really ever been political up until now. Scientists like Dr. Robert Malone; journalists like Alex Berenson; athletes like Novak Djokovic & thousands more than you can find on Twitter, FB, Gettr, Truth Social, Locals, Substack, etc.
We are all over the spectrum. The only unifying factor? We’re neither fish nor fowl.
And then there are the millions more all over America who don’t share their thoughts publicly like we do, but feel like we do.
And here’s the kicker: we’ve pretty much been right on everything. For some, going back just a few months; for others, many, many years. For some, it really started to click around 2018 or so & then was fully realized in 2020.
I really don’t get some of the people out there. Imagine being wrong over & over & over & over again. But then once the new thing hits they can’t seem to remember the hundreds of times that “This IS It! This is the ONE!” has never come to fruition.
It’s almost sad; however, now it’s becoming problematic for the future of our country. The hang-ups of a shrinking minority continue to have an adverse effect.
I’m still pulling for ‘em, though. I remain, as always, optimistic.
As a final thought, it’s clearly obvious that everything going on the last few years is all totally interconnected w/ the elephant in the living room being Covid. Again, we were 100% right. But who really cares. The big thing is there has to be a reckoning on this. It’s already happening. It’s going to be proven that this was one of the most heinous crimes against humanity in the history of earth. How it is handled will likely reveal whether or not we can keep our Republic.

So I got a little sidetracked w/ this piece but am shooting for having my election write-up live by middle of the week.
Take Care,
